From prosperity to poverty

Lotti Latrous decided quite consciously to accept a life in slums instead of a villa.

Born in Dielsdorf, near Zurich, Switzerland she met her future husband Aziz in Geneva. Due to Aziz’s job as a director of Nestlé the family with the three children travelled to Jeddah, Nigeria, Cairo and then to Abidjan, the economic metropolis of the Ivory Coast. The misery experienced there by Lotti, a privileged lady having her own chauffeur, cook and swimming pool prompted her to open an ambulatory there.

Since 1999 following establishments have been opened by Lotti Latrous

  • Centre of Hope One - Ambulatory
  • Centre of Hope Two - Hospice
  • Centre of Hope Three - Orphanage

These establishments are given the French name for “Hope” – Centre d’Espoir. Read more about these under “Establishments”.
