Establishments

Lotti Latrous’s Establishments carry the French name for Hope: Centre d' Espoir.

Centre of Hope One - Ambulatory

Her first project, the ambulatory celebrated its opening on 1st February 1999. Up to end of 2008 206,000 consultations took place, whereby 28,000 alone in 2008.

Centre of Hope Two - Hospice.

On 2nd of September 2002 she opened the hospice. It was named "Centre Espoir d'Eux" – Centre of Hope Two / For You - a pun as Deux means Two and d’Eux is For You in French.

This second centre is ’for you’ – for the Aids patients. Up to 2006 1,186 patients were treated there. In 2008 fifty-five percents of the patients survived and are presently in good health; they are regularly supplied with Aids medicines. The remaining forty-five percent died.

In general today more Aids patients can be saved due to the fact that on one hand now the Centre of Hope has a well equipped laboratory and on the other the treatment of Aids has become less expensive. Also the Centre of Hope is more known and many come at an early stage to get help.

Centre of Hope Three - Orphanage

The third project – the "Centre Espoir Trois", could be started at last at the end of 2005 in spite of various problems e.g. political unrest and others at the beginning. This centre for the Aids- orphans was officially opened at the beginning of February 2005. The centre has 50 places for orphans, all of whom are infected with Aids.

With these three centres Lotti Latrous has created 60 jobs. She is the only white lady in the locality and the only one not taking any salary.

The cost of maintaining the ambulatory, the hospice and the orphanage ( salaries, medicines, food for the patients and financial support for the Aids- patients, who have no money) comes to 85,000 Swiss francs per month ( approximately 53,000 Euro )
